Warren Buffett?!!

He surpassed fellow friend, ex-richest man Bill Gates. Bill Gates held the title for 13 consecutive years, who is now in 3rd place right behind Mexico's Telecommunications owner Carlos Slim Helu. America who used to hold the top 20 billionaire spots with 10, now holds only 4. The current decade has brought in more billionaires than ever, with the owners of Google, Creator of Facebook etc.

Civil War Book Report: Narrative of Frederick Douglass
Douglass, Frederick. Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass. Dover Publications Inc. 1845.
I remember back when I was in sophomore year that we read a small excerpt from Frederick Douglass's book as a small study of slavery during my world history class. I forgot about it until recently of doing the civil war project and given the assignment of reading a book about the civil war. I decided to read it. The book is about Frederick Douglass, one of the most famous abolitionists to end slavery. He talks about how he came to be and how he lived in Maryland before the civil war had started.
Frederick Douglass assumes that he was born around 1818 from overhearing his master. He grows up on a plantation that has is owned by Colonel Lloyd. He tells of how his master Captain Anthony whips his Aunt Hester and how she gets raped by a drunk Captain Anthony. He talks about how he is whipped severly by an overseer appropriately named "Mr.Severe". However he soon dies and is replaced by Mr. Hopkins, who all the slaves say he is a fair seer. He soon learns to read and write from after moving to Baltimore through Mrs. Auld for the 7 years he's there. He soon gets further education through Thomas Auld, Mrs.Auld's son's old books. During this time he learns about the situation of slavery and becomes desperate to escape. With the knowledge he acquires and his various owners dying, taking, and managing property along with Frederick. He plans and plans his escape from his final master of Hugh Auld and escapes to New York. He is taken by a free black-man named David Ruggles and gets help to move to Massachusetts. He works miscellaneous jobs and soon saves enough money for an abolition magazine. He attends an antislavery convention and was urged to speak about his life as a slave. After that moment, he continually worked for the freedom of slaves.
Frederick Douglass's autobiography shows how much physical and mental will he had to desperately become free. His story tells an incredible tale of how he had managed to escape the inevitable system what would have trapped him as a slave forever. He had an iron-will at most times and there were few instances where he was in incredible despair and had glimmer of hopes appear to him during those times, and I think that each time that he over came those despairs his will became ever stronger.
After finally finding the time to read this book. I think that it is one of the most important books during 19th century. His book coming from his perspective as a slave gave further proof to the North that slavery cannot go on forever, as it was inhumane. I also think that the book ultimately showed me that you should never give up regardless of your situation.
Frederick Douglass has written this book right before the start of the tensions building up that eventually led to the Civil War in 1861. He was a figure of hope for many slaves at the time and of the most well known abolitionists at the time.

Trying to associate memory with sounds that I heard for a short time, I thought a lot about childhood memories.
From the sounds of birds chirping, cars passing by, children running around. I thought of a lot of my child hood memories. Most of them were of me living in downtown San Diego. All the sounds made me think of a peaceful park, where children can just run around

Damn mimes, gotta hate them for imitating everyone.

Not EXACTLY a bulwark per-se, since the industrialization of the world meant that they could just blow up the Great Wall these days, but it had provided vital protection for many years for China.

The aboriginals of Alaska(?), Inuit, supposedly a drawing of them in 15 something

Don't mind nerds, but don't you have the ones that are really "hubris" just cause they know everything?

Potato famine in Ireland=Dearth, haha thought of replacing dearth with Alex A. there for a second =D

What is Art? HMM??!
Art in my own words, means any form of self-expression through any medium usable. Whether it be dancing, music, writing, drawing, painting, theatrics, etc. Anything can be art from a person's self-expression. As for the various branches of self-expression, some people consider some parts of dancing or paintings not art. I don't think that is true, if the work is made by the artist for his own pleasure, then i think that art is art as long as the artist believes it is in himself. As for art, i think that it is a valuable aspect of life as to enjoy and express how people view the world in their eyes.
Book Report Spring Break
Orwell, George. Animal Farm. Harcourt Brace & Company: 1946
Reason, Type and Setting: Explain why you selected this book. Explain what type of book it is? (For instance, Western, adventure novel, teen romance, action, mystery, etc.) Where does you novel take place? In what time period does your book take place?
I chose this book because I remember that it was a choice to read during the 10th grade, and I heard that it was really good so I decided to read it. It is a novella with direct relation to the Russian Revolution that happened during 1917-1945
Animal farm is mainly about a group of animals that are tired of opression by the farm owner Mr. Jones, and decide to chase away the human residents of Manor Farm and the main character Napoleon the pig ultimately take over the farm for his personal interests at the expense of the other animals. As soon as the farm is free from Mr.Jones's posession Napoleon and Snowball are the two characters in the story that ultimately try to run the country as the leader. Snowball is seen with good intentions but doesn't have the forcible personality to take over Napoleon, while Napoleon soon takes over with brute force and assures the other animals that he knows whats best for the farm. At first the farm starts out hopeful, peaceful and happy, but as soon as Napoleon takes over the farm, the farm gradually gets worse and worse.
One character that I want to give an analysis of is Boxer the horse. Boxer throughout the story has incredible strength and works hard for the farm in belief of his two mottos, "I will work harder", and the key quote "Napoleon is always right". Out of context, Boxer can be seen as the Russian public because they assume that whatever the pigs do they are right. The pigs in the story are the leaders of the farm, and make decisions for Boxer in the story because he is slow witted and doesn't think about what goes on at the farm independently. Boxers personality can be accounted for driving most of the other animals to continuously follow Napoleon despite the circumstances, eventually as Boxer ages and gets sick, he get shiped by Napoleon for slaughter at a meat factory.
Overall I liked the book very well, and knowing that this has genuine real world connections to events in history it made me think about how the government can go seriously wrong in the right situations. It was entertaining to see how Napoleon twists the rules of Animal Farm to eventually making him the dictator. Though that Snowball was fated to never become leader of Animal Farm, I kind of regret that Snowball doesn't become the leader because I would've liked to see how Napoleon react when the majority of the animals approve of Snowball's actions.
I think that if I read this book as I was learning about the Russian Revolution in 10th grade would've made the book a lot more interesting to read.
If I was put in the context of Animal Farm and compared with Boxer, I think I would be almost the complete opposite, and I would've fled as Muriel the attention craving mare in the story. I overall liked how the ending came full circle as Napoleon became increasingly similar to Mr.Jones in the beginning of the story and how he ultimately becomes a human being.
George Orwell was born in England in 1903 and I know that he attended private school and knows the social elitist and social class system and how it is so skewed. He has written a futuristic novel, 1984, besides Animal Farm. I've read 1984, and I honestly like Animal Farm more than 1984, just because there are historical facts tied in to the book so well.
